Workflow Explainer
Workflow Explainer
The Workflow Explainer reads a workflow process and describes it in plain English — its steps,
who they go to, how routing and decisions work — so you can understand or document a process
without tracing the diagram by hand.
How to access it
Open a workflow in the flow diagram view (Admin) and click Explain (AI), next to the diagram's other tools (the process check and the diagram-source view). It is available when your site is licensed for AI.
Choosing a style
Pick an explanation style — Executive, Detailed or Bullets. Changing the style re-explains the workflow in the new style.
The result
The explanation appears in a card below the diagram. You can Copy it or Close it. There is no text to type — the explainer reads the workflow's actual structure automatically.
Important
The explanation is AI-generated from the workflow structure and may be imperfect. The process check (the deterministic validator next to the Explain button) is the authoritative result for whether a workflow is correct — use the explanation for understanding, not for validation.
TIPS
- Use Executive to paste a quick description into a spec or email; use Detailed when training someone on the process.
- Run the process check first to catch structural problems; then use the explainer to describe how the (valid) process behaves.
NOTE ON (AI): The Workflow Explainer consumes tokens and may incur extra fees. Check with your sales rep for more information.
