A Carousel shows one slide at a time. The user moves between slides with the arrows or the small indicator bars, or the carousel moves on its own with Auto-play. Each slide is a container: in the designer, drag fields onto the slide that is showing, the same way you build a tab. A picture slide is simply an Image field on a slide of its own.

Carousels suit a rotating set of pictures, announcements on a home or dashboard form, or a handful of Stat Tiles that take turns in the same space.

Unlike a Tab Container, the fields on every slide are always computed, whether or not that slide is showing.

Settings

Default Slide - Which slide shows when the form opens.

Auto-play - Moves to the next slide on a timer. It runs only on the finished form, never in the designer, and it waits while the browser tab is in the background.

Seconds per Slide - How long each slide stays before the next one. Shown when Auto-play is on. The default is 5.

Pause While the Mouse Is Over It - Holds Auto-play while the pointer is over the carousel, so a reader is not moved on mid-sentence. Shown when Auto-play is on.

Loop Back to the First Slide - After the last slide, go back to the first. When it is off, Auto-play stops on the last slide and the arrows stop at either end.

Slides - The list of slides. Each has a Slide Name. The edit button opens the slide's properties: Caption Text and a Show When condition that decides whether the slide appears at all. Slides can be dragged into order, copied and deleted.

Field Name - The name used to refer to the carousel in conditions and in actions.

Display

Transition - Slide or Fade.

Show Arrows and Show Slide Indicators - Turn the previous and next arrows and the indicator bars on or off.

Controls Position - Over the Slides is the classic look: the arrows sit on the left and right edges of the slide and the indicators on its bottom edge, covering whatever is there. Use Beside the Slides when slides hold fields the user types into; the arrows then get their own space at the sides and the indicators move below the slides.

Dark Controls and Captions - Dark arrows, indicators and captions instead of white ones. Turn it on with Beside the Slides on a light background, or the arrows will not show.

Show Slide Name - Shows each slide's name and Slide Name over the bottom of the slide. Meant for picture slides, since the caption covers whatever sits there.

Shadow Size - None, Small, Medium or Large drop shadow around the carousel.

Slides of different heights make the rest of the form move up and down as the carousel turns. Set a Height or Min Height under Field Height (% or px) to keep it still.

Using a carousel with conditions and actions

A Set Field Value action aimed at the carousel shows a slide: send the slide's number (1 for the first) to jump to it. It also takes four commands: NEXT and PREV move one slide, and PAUSE stops Auto-play until PLAY starts it again. A Pause button on the form is one Set Field Value away.

The number of the slide showing is available as {Name:TAB}, where Name is the carousel's Field Name - the same as for a Tab Container.

A slide whose Show When condition is not met drops out of the rotation until the condition is met again.

The carousel, and the fields on its slides, are left out when the E-form is converted to a PDF document.
