Document Summarizer

The Document Summarizer reads a single document — PDF, Word, image or email — and produces a written summary so you can grasp its contents without reading the whole thing.

How to access it

Open a record, then in the documents list use the document's menu and choose

**Summarize Document Contents**. A dialog opens where you pick how you want it summarized.

Summary styles

Choose one of:

  • Executive — a short, two-to-six sentence overview.
  • Detailed — a longer, multi-paragraph summary.
  • Bullets — the key points as a list, most important first.
  • Dates — a table of dates and deadlines found in the document.
  • Compliance — the obligations, conditions and requirements found in the document.
  • Custom — you describe exactly what you want; type your instructions in the box.

You may also add optional instructions to any style to steer the result.

The result

The summary opens in a dialog showing the style used and the document name. From there you can:

  • Copy the summary to the clipboard.
  • Re-summarize with a different style or instructions.

How it runs

Short documents are summarized right away while you wait. Longer documents (more than about ten pages) are summarized in the background, and the result appears when it is ready.

TIPS

1. For contracts and agreements, the Compliance and Dates styles surface obligations and deadlines that are easy to miss.

2. If a summary misses what you care about, use Custom and say exactly what to focus on.

NOTE ON (AI): Summarizing documents sends the document to the AI and consumes tokens. This requires the Send Data to AI setting to be on, and may incur extra fees. Check with your sales rep for more information. Please verify all results, as AI can make mistakes.
